Gary North

America is trying to change their reputation of being an unhealthy country by changing the ingredients in some food to make them the slightest bit more healthy and eventually everything will be semi-healthy. Gary North is a columnist who does not agree with this idea of making unhealthy foods healthy because he says that people should be smart enough to figure out what’s good for them and what they should be eating.” One of Gary North’s more recent articles is about how Burger King is trying to make their french fries healthy. Burger King has tried changing their french fry recipe multiple times and each time, the consumers have not liked it. When they proposed the idea of “healthy” french fries, no one believed the idea or bought the fries. Gary North is on the side where he thinks that corporations and government should not try to get under Americans and control their lifestyle. People know what kind of foods they are eating versus what kind of foods they should be eating and they make those decisions on their own.

Do you agree with North in saying that people need to be able to control their own eating habits? Do you think we, as Americans, are unable to be healthy on our own and need support from franchises like Burger King?

Yes, I agree with Gary North about what he said about people having to control their own eating habits. I think that people should be able to choose what kinds of foods they want to eat. However, our society doesn’t know any different then junk food, and fast food so I think that people need a little bit of help. I think it would be such a smart idea for something as big as Burger King to promote healthy eating styles. Also, if a fast food place is willing to try something healthy, then I think maybe people in America will be too.

I agree with North in saying that people need to be able to control their own eating habits. I think Americans are unable to be healthy on their own, but i don’t think help should come from franchises like Burger King. Americans today have so many unhealthy but tasty food options in front of them that they almost accept them as okay. North is saying that when fast food restaurants offer healthier options, they usually do not sell as well. So why should places like Burger King suffer for trying to help us. If Americans are foolish enough to keep buying unhealthy food, Burger King should continue to make good money off of us. If anyone should be promoting healthier foods, it should be the government.

I agree with Gary North that people need to be able to control their own eating habits. I understand why franchises, like Burger King, are trying to provide healthier eating options. However, many people like the taste of the regular fast food. Fast food is also cheap and the quickest way to get a meal. We, as Americans, are not unable to be healthy on our own, but many Americans choose to be unhealthy simply because it seems easier. Everyone knows how bad fast food is for you and it is completely your choice to eat healthy or unhealthy foods.

I do think that Americans should be able to control their own eating habits. However, I don’t think it is a bad idea for Burger King to change recipes to make them healthier. There are always going to be people that go to fast food restaurants, so I don’t see how it would be a bad idea to at least give those people healthier options. I also don’t think that people should turn down the idea just simply because the french fries are not as unhealthy. I think it is your choice whether or not you want to eat healthy, but I also think that America should limit their choices of unhealthy food to prevent the increased amount of obesity and diabetes in the United States.

I do agree with North for the most part. People should know what they are eating and even if they didn’t they turn down the “healthy” version. I think that burger king should change their recipe without telling people, if people aren’t told about a change in things then they most likely will not notice anything different. Many people do not have the ability, or will, to control their eating habits, even when they should. I believe it is the company’s choice as to what recipe for fries they use, and the customers should be grateful if they choose a healthy alternative.

People do need to be able to control their own eating habits because limited self control is the reason America got so fat. Americans are completely capable of to be healthy on our own, and places like Burger King provide virtually no support because no matter what they do all of the food is processed and unhealthy anyways. Also, its not the fast food chains responsibility to make Americans healthy, because we control how much and how often we eat the stuff. People can be healthy on their own, and should be.

I think if you are eating something unhealthy, that is your choice to be eating that and if you want to run it off later, you can, but if not then that’s your own fault. There are constant pressures everywhere regarding eating healthy, and if you cant pick up that hint, then you shouldnt need extra assistance from major companies.I do agree that people should be able to control their own healthy eating habits.

I believe that yes, people need to learn to control their eating habits. However in today’s society, fast food chains such as burger king just become the easier option, especially if someone’s just getting out of work and they don’t feel like cooking a healthy meal. I think fast food chains should be working to make their food healthier since it’s viewed as a cheaper and easier option to getting a meal.

I agree with North when he says people should be able to control their own eating habits. Some people are very active or have a high metabolism, when other aren’t active and have a low metabolism. People should learn what types of foods are helpful for them and their lifestyle. I think Americans can be healthy on our own and we don’t need help from fast food franchises. I don’t think there is anything wrong with fast food franchises trying to benefit others health by making their menu more healthy.

I do agree with North in saying that people need to be able to control their own eating habits. I believe that people should be able to make the choice of what they want to eat. I do not think that Americans are unable to be healthy on their own. I also don’t believe we need support from franchises. There are many people nowadays eat healthy and live healthy lifestyles without the support of franchises like that.

Americans have to be able to control their own eating habits, it should not be a franchises job to do so. I feel that as Americans, we can not regulate our eating trends, a lot us, not all, always want more or bigger. People need to wake up and realize what they’re doing to themselves and change on their own.

I completely agree with North and find it ridiculous for anyone to disagree with him. We are expected to be independent in our lives, and doesn’t that mean that we need to be able to control ourselves? I do think that many American’s have issues controlling what they eat. If corporations feel they should help then they should do what they feel is right but I think that the issue is entirely the persons own problem and they should learn to take care of themselves.

I absolutely agree with the North, people need to keep track of their own eating habits so they don’t get out of hand. It should not be a franchise’s job to do this. In fact, franchise’s like Burger King rely on people to not keep track of their eating habits so they can make money. So it should not be their job, they are trying to run a successful business, not worry about individual people and their bad choices with food.

I agree with your writer and think that people should be able to make healthy choices on their own. It is ridiculous to think that anyone could blame a food franchise or anyone else for themselves being unhealthy. I don’t think it is any restaurant’s job to make their food more healthy for customers. If a person is relying on Burger King creating better options for them to be more healthy, then there is a bigger problem with that person’s decision making. I believe that if someone wants to eat healthy, they will choose to eat healthy, and it is no one else’s fault but their own if they choose not to.

I agree with North when he says that we need to control our eating habits. It is our responsibility to decide if we want to eat healthy or if we want to eat the cheaper and less healthy option. I do think that with the healthier food being more expensive, it is hard for some families to eat as healthy as they want. People that eat fast food a lot probably think that they are being healthy by eating “healthy fries” from Burger King when really it doesn’t compare to the real healthy food. I don’t think that we need support from franchises because no matter how healthy they make it seem it is still bad for us on some level.

I believe that people should be in charge of making healthy choices own their own. I agree with North in saying that corporations and private businesses should not try and regulate what Americans eat. All Americans are capable of making their own choices when it comes to food, and even if they were raised by parents who did not care about their health, it does not mean that they should also follow in their footsteps. Companies like Burger King do not need to involve themselves in regulating Americans’ diets, as this is something that an American can do on their own.

I absolutely agree with Gary North. It is on the people to control their own eating habits, not where they get the food. They know what foods are good for them, and what foods are bad for them. They can make the decisions on what to eat by themselves. As Americans, we do not need support from franchises like Burger King. Burger King will always be known as an unhealthy fast food restaurant, whether they try and change their ingredients or not. It is completely on the people to choose the food that is healthy for them.

I agree with North. People need to have the self control to make their own health decisions. Yes it would help to have society and franchises like burger king help us make those decisions, but ultimately it is your own choice. My biggest concern is that places like burger king claim they made their fries healthier, but does that make them healthy. Or are they putting chemicals in to make it less fatty. People choose what they eat but false advertisement can also play a big role.
